In 1971, His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third King of Bhutan, declared Dzongkha the official language for government and education. The Bhutanese Ministry of Education established a Dzongkha Development Division, initiating the creation and printing of Dzongkha learning materials, subsequently incorporating Dzongkha into the school curriculum. In 1986, His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth King, directed the formation of the Dzongkha Advisory Committee to develop plans and policy guidelines for the further promotion of the Dzongkha language, and English Speaking is very common in Bhutan nowadays.
